The Barely Woven Workshop
New name, same me.
2026 has some strange energy so far. Lots has happened for me this year already, I’ve been confirmed as officially post menopausal (YAY!!) which is early at 44, but there you have it. I’ve also been diagnosed with Autism and ADHD (AuDHD), and lost about 15% of my body weight. And it’s only February.
I’ve struggled over the years to find the right kind of box to put myself (and my website!) into. Nothing fit. Buttercream fit for a while, longer than anything else I’ve ever tried to do (see AuDHD) but even that feels like the clothes of someone else now.
I have a lot of interests. Like a LOT. Most of which I keep off the blog because it doesn’t ‘go’ with buttercream, including my Witchcraft 101 post, which incidentally is the biggest driver of traffic to my blog by more than 200%!
So, I settled on a new name. The Barely Woven Workshop. It incorporates everything, chronic illness (barely woven, I’m looking at you connective tissue!) witchcraft, neurodivergence, eleventy billion hyperfixations, and of course, all of my work as Viva La Buttercream. I also plan to record more episodes of my Podcast, Blowin’ This Joint, a chronic illness and neurodivergence podcast.
This is my new logo:
I plan to use this for any images I share with artworks or the like, but all of my cakes, even future ones, will have my Viva La Buttercream logo, because I am and always will be Viva La Buttercream.
I am fully aware of the chaos I embody (see once again, AuDHD), but to love me is to love all of me, and who amongst us isn’t searching for how and where we fit? Will this be the right fit? Who knows? I don’t. I make no promises that another name change won’t come along in another year, but I can guarantee, whatever its called, it will always be me ❤️
